Creating networked systems without the need for a computer: even easier configuration of microphone systems
Frankfurt/Wedemark, Germany, 6 April 2011 – The audio specialist Sennheiser is now offering a new and free firmware for its evolution wireless ew 300 G3, ew 500 G3, and 2000 Series wireless microphone systems. This allows the systems to be networked and programmed without the need for a computer. Small and medium-sized installations can now be set up more easily, rapidly and conveniently than ever before.
“The firmware makes use of the ‘Easy Set-up’ function, with which users of our Wireless Systems Manager are familiar,” explains Martin Fischer, Product Manager for Professional Wireless Microphones at Sennheiser. “This function is perfect for performing rapid set-ups in relatively uncomplicated wireless environments. Such a system would previously have required a computer, but now the user can easily programme the network of receivers via a single receiver.”
For this, receivers updated with the new “Stand-alone Network” firmware are linked to one another via Ethernet cables and switches. One receiver is defined as the master and distributes its scanned frequency presets to the other receivers. A quick press of a button on each individual device confirms the programming of the frequencies. The transmitters are synchronised with the receivers in the standard way via infrared interfaces.
